I get this too, with the same setup. It looks like ad-Orig-read-file- name requires a string as an argument, which acts as a prefix in the mini buffer. Something like Save file in: . I'm not sure what changed and where to fix it, but I hope this helps. -- emacs-snapshot viper-mode broken
