Add: I'm also using the new hardy with the latest patches, I have a
nvidia graphics card using restricted drivers. (Maybe this is the root
of the issue...)

Same problem here, X hung while I was draging a file from nautilus into
the message window in order to send it to a buddy. Music kept playing in
Amarok and system was still accessible via SSH but X hung, also
switching to terminal via ctrl + alt + f1 wasn't possible.
