Another thing is that it will show up on whichever desktop you are on at
the time. I was running a windows VM on workspace 2 and it showed up
there and I believe it took the focus while the VM was in full screen.
I thought about maybe adding the window name to the compiz "screenlets"
property but
If it only steals it from the chat window then it could be a "Feature"
and not a bug

Seems to be only from a chat window. I opened a kate session and just
started typing til one of my contacts went offline. It didn't affect
the focus for kate at all.

It doesn't really matter any more since KDE4 came out, but "Desklist" was
one of kopete's plugins for kde3 that gave your contact list in a
super-karamba-like format on your desktop.
