Confirmed on Ubuntu 8.10 64. I vote for a low priority(I use conky on
gnome, and cpu applet on KDE so i had no problem with figuring out what
is happening) because it optional package. What about turning off(by
default) bootchart when fsck is planned? Probably most people don't want

w.r.t bootchart (and rsvg-convert), I agree this is a critical bug...

Recently, after re-booting, I had to struggle to gain control of my
computer as rsvg-convert was taking all the memory and cpu cycles,
making it impossible to do anything.
I have now uninstalled bootchart, now that I know that the problem is
caused by it.
A most annoying problem and one that I wo
hit with this some days ago with hardy. rsvg-convert took about 75% of
cpu (core2duo) and 4.3G of memory!

I just got hit by this. Between trackerd and rsvg-convert my dual core
processor with 2GB of ram was rendered useless for over 10 minutes. It
took me that long just to figure out wtf was going on. I had to reboot
since rsvg-convert was un-interruptible.
I have / on one partition and /home on anoth
Just happened to me as well... luckily I have dual core CPU so the buggy
software didn't freeze my computer for 10min straight.
