Using intrepid and the 0.9.11 packages from https://launchpad.net/~themuso/+archive my Alsa Master volume is still reset everytime I start pulseaudio (it gets set to 93). I've tried your solution and in my case it only adds in gnome mixer. Moreover, the headphones stopped work. When you remove "options snd-hda- intel model=3stack" from /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base, the full is still at full volume at each startup but the headphones work. -- Sound is always at full vo
