Public bug reported: Have just upgraded a system to Hardy Release Candidate. This is the 4th update I've done (all the others have been fine!).
Upgrade was via Package Manager, following the same process as the other upgrades. This particular system is an AMD 3500+ with 1Gb RAM. There are 2 x IDE HDD's on the primary controller and 2 x optical drives on the secondary (the master is a Phillips DVD-RW, the slave a "generic" ATAPI CD-RW). The system is a dual-boot with Ubuntu and Windows XP. Following the upgrade, there's a "Blank Disk" icon on the desktop, and the DVD-RW drive is inaccessible, doesn't show and doesn't eject. If there is a disk in the drive at boot up, it's still inaccessible and doesn't display the contents or any icons relating to what the disk actually is. No lights show on the drive (almost as if there's no power to it). The slave CD-RW powers but refuses to recognise any disk that's loaded. No issues before the upgrade, and booting to the XP session all is fine - both drives are accessible. The "Computer" file browser window shows the XP system and data partitions, the filesystem, the floppy drive, the CD-RW and this Blank Disk. It will not show any content of the CD-RW. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- DVD-RW inaccessible after upgrade to Hardy RC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/219882 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
