Hi all,
I confirm the same bug on Karmic while using an USB 2.0 card reader and
a 128 MB SmartMedia card.
Some info here :

I can confirm that an identical bug is occurring with my installation of
karmic running on an HP compaq6120. My debug logs read identically to
the OPs. TIFM detects the card in the same socket, just as with the OP,
but there appears to be no folders for the device generated under /dev

unfortunately the laptop on which I could reproduce this more-than-one-
year-old bug is dead now.
Is anybody subscribed able to test ?
btw I find this quite a lazy way to handle bugs, ie ask the reporter to
test each new release for a magical disappearance.

it would be more useful if it were mounted :)
which is not the case indeed.
I don't know how to check if a /dev special file is created (udev ?) but I'd
happily follow any guidelines to do this

The provided dmesg has been done with a card inserted :

Will do the lsusb as well as upgrade to 2.6.2
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
