Public bug reported: When using a GeForce 8600GT from nVidia with Ubuntu, I experience some issues when I try to use the resolution 1440x900. Resolutions above and beneath like 1280x800 and 1680x1050 are working just fine. When I select 1440x900, whichever tool or method I use, the screen becomes dark. There is still a display of my desktop, but so extreme dark that I can hardly see it.
I know the issue lies with Ubuntu and the GeForce 8600. I have tried with a GeForce 4 and 5 (FX) on the same computer and screen without any problems. I have also tried the GeForce 8600 with Fedora 7 and 8, OpenSuse 10.3 and Mandriva 2007. Neither one of them had any problems when selecting the 1440x900 resolution. Now, I experienced this problem with Ubuntu 7.10, 7.04 and I hoped that this would be fixed in the upcoming 8.04 But now I have tried the 8.04RC and I get the same problem. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Resolution problems with GeForce 8 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220028 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
