Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg
I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop with an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS with a mostly Gutsy install, but with the Kernel/Compiz/X/NVIDIA packages installed from Hardy. Since upgrading to the Hardy versions of Compiz and X about a week ago or so, I have twice had the X server crash spontaneously while nothing much was going on. The first time was during my morning routine of checking emails and websites, but I don't remember exactly what I was doing at the moment it happened. This second time was just now and definitely all I was doing was browsing in Firefox. Below is the backtrace from the most recent crash. (Attached is the full Xorg.0.log.old file.) It seems to suggest that the cause is mouse movement. Note that this bug was NOT generated by apport. For some reason there is no crash file in /var/crash.
