Guess this bug is duplicate but I have resolved this issue
by changing configuration values of gnome-power-manager via gconf-editor

Same problem on a Fujjitsu Siemens Amilo 1520 in Ubutu 7.1 8.04 and

Same problem here, on a MacBookPro, I get a message like the Computer
is going to hibernate shortly, battery critically low. But instead of
doing that, nothing happends for another two or three minutes and then
the screen gets black... Recovering journal on next boot.
