Confirmed that this bug happens on Kubuntu, too (fresh Hardy Install on
Abit AV8 w/ AMD Athlon 64 3000+).
I cannot see why this should be a duplicate of 216266, and neither why
people say this isn't a bug wit

+1 @Nick B.
This should not be a duplicate of 216266. Expect developers to confirm.

This bug should really be a duplicate of bug #195434 "Shutting down GDM takes a
long time."
No relation to Network Manager.

You may be correct as the bug also occurs on my Xubuntu install, and
XFCE uses GDM as far as I know. But we still don't know if it's network
manager or GDM causing the bug. Perhaps a Kubuntu hardy user could

This bug has nothing to do with Usplash or Network Manager. Yes, the
errors from NM are visible, but they are_not the cause of what is
hanging the system on shutdown. I've been looking into this and it seems

It is _NOT_ a duplicate. There is a difference between a Usplash problem and
the shutting down of a OS which can take up to over two minutes. Please
address the the Network Manager error.

I do not doubt that Bug #216266 needs to be addressed. But this bug
specifically mentions hanging_on_shutdown. Bug #216266 does not mention
anything about hanging_on_shutdown.

"Bug #216266 seems to be nothing other than cosmetic." That is not the
way to advance a distribution. Bug #216266 gives the impression of a
faltering, unstable system and needs to be addressed.

I don't think this is a duplicate of bug #216266. The problem here is
that it is hanging on shutdown while waiting for GDM to stop, and then
GDM ends up segfaulting. Bug #216266 seems to be nothing other than

I'm seeing the same problem here. Every once in a while when I shutdown or

time, it starts to shutdown and I see those NetworkManager error

Same here, it started after i upgraded my RC into the final. But here's
a good solution: if you start Hardy using the old kernel it works much
better.

Here is happening exactly the same symptom.
The strange thing is that before installing this final version of Hardy,
in the same PC I was with the Beta version installed and updated without
any problem.
Does anybody knows the solution for that?
Thank you!
