Jérôme, can you connect your printer via USB or network and see whether
the problem goes away? Seems a parallel port problem for me.

Aaron,
I'm running hplip 2.8.5. I just found the hplip-3.82 version and will
give it a try.
Thanks,
Jerry

I installed hplip 3.9.2 (running hplip-3.9.2.run). It gave me a few
warnings, but eventually got through it:

I made a kludge by symbolically linking (ln -s /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp
/usr/lib64/cups/backend/hp) just to see what cups would do, and at
least I'm back up printing again. I tried printing a large X (300 dpi,
full page) and only the top half came out. So it doesn't look like

Similar, but intermittent, problem here: After a few pages, printer sometimes
starts printing nothing or garbled pages. Might be related to usb problems:

I tried connecting with USB instead of parport. At least the first few
printouts were fine, so I'll buy an USB cable for the printer and see if that
solves the problem.

I printed a document from OpenOffice. First, it failed as expected, but then I
looked at the dialog of OpenOffice Printer Settings (From the Print-dialog, on
the right of the Printer name). There was a setting for forcing to PostScript
Level 1 instead of the level coming from the driver.
I have the same problem. Printing fails completely or on the first
page(s).

hi,
it seems I still have a problem. Currently Evince / Firefox /
Openoffice do print normally the first page OK (unless there are heavy
pictures), but for the second or third only the top comes, and the print
job gets stuck. This happens even without fancy filters (like the ones

the problem appeared)
now setting the resolution to draft did not help.
I tried to print this file: http://www.wingsgoclub.org/books/StrongerPlayer.pdf

Can you try to print the same document with the same application again,
but with a lower setting for resolution or print quality (option
Printout Mode or Quality)? Do you then get full pages printed? If
this is the case we have an upstream driver bug.

hi
I tried with changing the Printout Mode to draft, and it printed
perfectly fine. Then I changed back to normal, and it printed fine.
Even reboot did not make the problem reappear.
I'll add a comment here again, if (when?) the problem returns.
