Public bug reported: On my Thinkpad X60s, with the 2.6.24 kernel the idle power consumption is about 14 watts (with no USB devices connected). When I remove the uhci_hcd module, power consumption drops to 11.5 watts, improving battery life significantly.
Powertop also shows that with uhci_hcd the CPU remains in C2 about 60% of the time, with C3 only at 40%. Without uhci_hcd, the CPU stays in C3 ~99% of the time. Ubuntu versions prior to Hardy didn't seem to have this issue, the power consumption was lower even with uhci_hcd loaded. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- uhci_hcd causes excessive power consumption https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223101 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
