Hi,
I've upgraded from 8.04 with 2.6.24-21-generic kernel with which WEP and WPA2
worked
But new kernel 2.6.27-7-generic does well with WPA2, but WEP does not seem to
work
don't know what info i should add here...kinda new at this :S

8.04: Centrino Wifi WEP not working, WPA2 ok
Hi Sanders,
Thanks for testing and the feedback. It sounds like this original issue
you reported has been resolved. It would be best if you'd open a new
report regarding the WEP keys not being saved as that's a different
issue and it's helpful to the development teams if bug reports target
one s
It's my experience with 2.6.27-4-generic that 1) wifi works with WEP, but 2)
Ubuntu does not remember the WEP key: on all (two) WEP networks I connect
to, I have to type the WEP each time after logon, whereas WPA networks
passwords are remembered.

The Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Beta release was most recently announced -
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/beta . It contains the 2.6.27
Ubuntu kernel. It would be great if you could test and verify if this
is still an issue. The status is being set to Incomplete until we
receive further feedback.
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable

Is this a Centrino issue or a Network-Manager issue?

Still the same problem with today's newest kernel "Ubuntu 8.04, kernel
2.6.24-19-generic": can't connect to WEP2. I still need to boot into
good old "Ubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.22-14-generic" from the boot options
to have my Centrino connected to my WEP AP.
BTW: With kernel 2.6.24-19, the network man
I have the same issue with my HP 8510P notebook I have the 4965AGN
wireless card. The wireless light does not work, but that is a known
intel driver issue that will be fixed shortly. But I can not connect to
any WEP secured access points. WPA/WPA2 and open access seem to work
correctly.

Any updates to this issue? Any fix reported yet? Have same issue with
fresh 8.04 (2.6.24-16-generic and no old kernels) install using b43 wlan
driver. Can connect to Open and WPA APs, but not WEP. Company WLAN is
WEP which is a problem...

Hi I am having the same issue my wireless can't connect to my Netgear AP
at home. 128k Wep to my friends Linksys works fine and my companies
unencrypted Guest access works fine
I've tried both WPA (TKIP) and Wep on the netgear, I'll confirm if WPA2 works
when I get home tonight.

I found a workaround: the 8.04 boot menu offers an older kernel
(2.6.22-14-generic). If I choose that kernel, my Centrino Wifi / WLAN
connects without any problem to my WEP AccessPoint.
