During use, the machine in question freezes, save for a moving cursor, and
needs to be hard rebooted. The following relevant information is found
repeatedly in kern.log, near some wireless related activity:

See the attached log file for a much more verbose version, there are two
boots of the affected kernel, search within the file for occurrences of
System.map-2.6.24. The problem does not occur on the latest generic
kernel from Gutsy.
