Which occurs when my /etc/lirc/lircd.conf contains:
#Callouts to two custom lircd.conf.* files generated
I'm going to submit a backported lirc with the final include support.
Once that's done, see if that resolves the issue.

If I remove the MD8800 section in
/usr/share/lirc/remotes/atiusb/lircd.conf.atilibusb, lirc works
perfectly (I use the userspace module)

I can confirm this. If I remove the entry for the MD8800 in
lircd.conf.atilibusb, it'll work again.

I'm not sure if that'll break the Medion remote, though.
