Public bug reported:

I use Kubuntu 8.04 and I have upgraded from 7.10 without problems. I had
the same problem with 7.10 but with a previous kernel.

I CANNOT boot with kernel 2.6.24-16-generic: the system *hangs after
fsck* and I have to unplug my computer to turn it off and turn it on
again. The hard drive seems to be blocked.

I CAN regularly boot with kernel 2.6.20-16-generic, but I don't know
which is the reason.

My system:

Compaq Presario S6398IT
P IV 2.8 Ghz
RAM 768 MB
Graphic card ATI Radeon 9200SE
Two hard disks: one Linux fully dedicated; the other Windows dedicated (this is
the original one)

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
