Mono 1.9.1 has already been released, which now has good support for C# 3.0, LINQ and .NET 3.5. http://www.go-mono.com/archive/1.9/ These new features are all crucial for running modern C# / .NET programs on Linux and therefore promoting Linux uptake as a whole.
