Hello, you'll find the file you requested attached to this comment.
Please notice that during last weekend I did a distribution upgrade to
7.10 on that computer. I have not tried burning a cd-r, but it is still
present the symptom that when a blank disk is inserted the dialog asking
what to do
volume.disc.type = 'unknown' (string)
that's an hal or linux issue

Sorry, I forgot to specify that the cd writer is a Samsung CD-R/RW SW
208F.
Besides, using nautilus to write to a cd image and then burning the
image with cdrecord works just fine.
