Hi, I'm the original reporter. Problem is I won't upgrade to 8.10 till
kde 4 is a little more developed, which I heard should happen by feb.
2009. If there's way to test the new version of synaptics without
installing the whole distribution, please let me know.

): it works fine for me too, after downgrading the touchpad works with
scrolling and everything. gsynaptics also works fine.

I have fixed my problem. It was my mistake, I have switched off the touchpad
(Fn+F9).

Hello all,
same Problem here with my Toshiba Satellite 2430-201.
With Gutsy the touchpad was running, after upgrade to hardy the pad is disabled.
If you need more Informations from my System, please send me the
commands for the konsole. I am a Newbie with Linux an Ubuntu.

Hi,
I have the same problem on IBM Thinkpad T42p. The Laptop has both, Trackpoint
and Touchpad. In xorg.conf the synaptics driver is pointed to the "event"
device of the touchpad. However no mouse (trackpoint, touchpad and even USB
mouse) works with
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics_0.14.7~git2007
By the way:
my touchpad has scrolling, both horizontal and vertical, and tapping.
I'm not sure about dragging.
