I've got similar problem with Logitech Wave Corded keyboard. I've solved
it reassigning the Calculator key to execute the application (in my
case Kcalc) using System preferences - Keyboard and Mouse -
Shortcuts in KDE.

Same problem here on a dell E1505 using a hardy fresh install with a usb
keyboard, which has a calc button on it.
Yes, it kills the volume up/down, mute, Fn-battery popup, Fn eject
buttons too, although dimming keys work.
And speedcrunch starts ok from katapult.
