I really can't give you a satisfactory reply because I am not using that
Averatec laptop anymore. I did away with it because it seemed
incompatible with Ubuntu on too many points for comfort.

I cannot even try to install v. 9.04 on this machine because I need to
use ndiswrapper as well and that has been depricated by Ubuntu!
I just must be satisfied with what I have!
