xserver-xgl has been deprecated upstream, and removed from Intrepid.

I got a resolution to this in the ubuntu forum:

Resolution in hardy is to remove the package xserver-xgl which seems obsolete,
and optionally switch to normal numeric keypad using
System/Preferences/K

I can confirm this behavior. It's a pretty frustrating one - I've been
bit by it three times in the past couple of days - hope you can find a
fix soon! :(

I just got another Xgl followed by compiz crash by pressing a key on the
keypad, note that the compiz crash is different from above. Or does the
Xgl crash take down compiz?
