I admit I'm not familiar with Ubuntu processes, but a bug about shipping
an unusable package is wontfixed? The workarounds of "start liking
crashes" and "uninstall and reinstall half of everything" are not very
appealing. I've got Psi crashing every 10-15m on me and I'm not so
confident in my packa
This is what worked for me:
First: remove hardy-backports from sources.list!
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install -d libqt4-core=4.3.4-0ubuntu3 libqt4-gui=4.3.4-0ubuntu3
libqt4-sql=4.3.4-0ubuntu3 libqt4-qt3support=4.3.4-0ubuntu3
(get qt 4.3, download only as installation will fail a
According to comment #7 this incompatibility of psi and qt4.4 will be
fixed in a later version of psi. See workarounds in this comment to fix
it for now.

According to the psi developers, these crashes are due to psi being
incompatible with qt 4.4. Thus, these crashes only appear if you have
hardy-backports enabled. Psi 0.12 will be compatible with qt 4.4 (the
SVN already is). So, your options are:
* live with the crashes and wait for psi 0.12 to be

Correction: The package from intrepid just does not expose the crashes.
The icon in the notification area is still fragmented after running Psi
some time. The fragmentation is not deterministic, but varies in
patterns and time of occurence. So backporting intrepid's version is not
a real fix.
