Now here we are!
I have analyzed the content of applications directory and I have found that
was the Firefox desktop file that have a problem. I have deleted this one and
now the url saved on desktop open correctly in Firefox (in the mean time Gnome
(or Nautilus?) has created automatically a
what url do you dnd exactly? does moving the .local directory somewhere
else fixes the issue?

I have tried to move the .local folder in another place and in fact now the
url saved to the desktop open correctly in Firefox.
If I move again .local to his original place the problem is still present.
So the problem is somewhere in the .local folder. Now: where?
My .local folder contain these

changed the default software for the mimetype used there

Hi Sebastien,
me too I have to admit that this problem is very strange and confusing.
I have created a new user on the same PC and with this one the behaviour
is correct. Only with my main user the behaviour is wrong as I have
described above.
I really don't know what is wrong (mime type seem to
the bug is still somewhat confusing, could you describe how to trigger
the issue on a new installation? how did you copy the url to nautilus?

applications are listed there? what mimetype is displayed on your
installation?

the first one is a desktop and the preferred browser will be used since
those are special cases used for launcher, the html will use the
application associated to the mimetype
