Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-driver-ati

ATI IGP 340M video card.

Under Gutsy, I could use xrandr to switch between LVDS and VGA-0. When I
upgraded to Hardy, I can not get VGA-0 to display.

Details: During boot up, I can see all images. I forced the "vesa"
driver in lo-res mode and it was able to display to my external monitor
(VGA-0). Once gdm loads, the external monitor goes into standby (i.e.,
the display goes dark and the power LED blinks). No combination of
xorg.conf and xrandr options has given me a display.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-driver-ati (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
