I've tested this on Quantal (Gwenview 4:4.9.2-0ubuntu1, kipi-plugins
4:2.8.0-0ubuntu1) and it seems to work.
However, I don't know when it got fixed; so I don't know whether it's still an
issue on any of the Ubuntu versions still in support.
