hm... actually it should work imho, but it doesn't. Currently perl has a
versioned replaces against libarchive-tar-perl (against a later version
than found in hardy), but still I got the error. *confused*.

this bug was present when i tried to do an dist-upgrade from hardy to
intrepid by replacing in apt/sources.list
but with upgrade manager upgrade worked until the end

Ok. If I explicitly remove libarchive-tar-perl, then the new perl 5.10
packages will install without issue.
