I experienced the same issue with my sony vaio pcg-fx370 and Hardy.
I fixed the issue with the following xorg.conf settings:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "intel"
EndSection
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Configured
I finally had a chance to try it and displayconfig-gtk fixed the display
problem. I also booted up the release candidate version of crunchbang
and the display resolution problem is still there but unfortunately,
displayconfig-gtk is no longer available. The xorg.conf file is
attached.
