I was missing several icons on my gnome-panel, after some looking around I
discovered that I was missing
the "notification-area-applet" after restore of this applet on my gnome-panel I
got back my missing applets.

Hi, same issue for me too. I removed the volume control applet because
it appear to be cloned then I tried to remove one with right click ->
remove but the two icons removed. Now I can't put it back. It does not
appear in applets list.
I tried "killall gnome-volume-control-applet" followed by "gno
same issue here, gnome-volume apt doesn't work without pulse,
reinstalling pulse fixes issue and volumect-app reappears on reboot.

a bug in this code? don't reopen random bugs because you have a similar
issue in an another software
