We cannot support your own packages. I have however used my Blender 2.46
packages on Hardy fine with fglrx.

Since this is not an official blender package you are using this bug
probably doesn't apply to the blender package in ubuntu. However it is
possible this is caused by your drivers. I'm assuming you're using
fglrx?
