My guess is that this has not been fixed but I might get a chance to try it

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and

It happens with 8.10 also. Not tried any 9.04 betas.
What information can I provide to help with the report?
The machine is a HP ProLiant ML380, CCISS RAID 1 as the only "disk",
doing a preseed install.
