Strange, same issue here. Only happened after I installed XFCE4 and some
related programs. Upon uninstalling "xscreensaver", the problem is
solved.

Same problem for me (Ubuntu Hardy, amd64 version), starting openoffice
presenter by nautilus causes its crash. The workaround suggested by
Susanne works also for me.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but my openoffice also crashes
upon startup. It just started to happen a couple of days ago.
It only happens when starting oowriter/oocalc/etc with a file to open as
a parameter.

I have the same error (can open open office writer directly, can't open
a file in nautilus, firefox etc.). I have found out that it seems to be
the package "openoffice.org-gtk" causing this. <- Deinstalling it gives
me an ugly but working openoffice.

I also noticed, that running openoffice as root (sudo openoffice) works
fine. If you run sudo oowriter, the same error message as above appears.

Well I've got the same issue, and removing openoffice-gnome does solve it.
