Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools
Running ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Steps to reproduce: * Open network settings via System > Administration > Network, and click on the "General" tab. * Type something into the "Domain name" field -> this is appended to the computer name in the Hosts tab * clear the "Domain name" field -> entry in hosts tab does not have the domain cleared This might be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /gnome-system-tools/+bug/122948 It is fairly serious as it causes gksudo to stop working (probably related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/netcfg/+bug/19775 ) If someone is attempting to set up a windows network, this is the place they will try to input their workgroup name, as there does not appear to be any easily accessible GUI way of doing this anymore. Because of this, attempts to set up a windows network are quite likely to leave a system broken. ** Affects: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Clearing "Domain name" in network settings does not remove the domain name from "hosts" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239089 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
