Binary package hint: gedit
The upstream design decision (bug #147078) on omitting that tab is not
reflected in the help. The Section 9.4 about this tab is still present
in the gedit manual, and its Section 7.2 still refers to that section on
how to change colors.
According to your plan:
1) 8.04
2) 2.22.3
By the way, I am submitting the bug via the "Help->Report" a problem
menu item, so I think the two versions above should be submitted
automatically and I shouldn't be asked to include them.
3) To learn from the manual the way to change colors for the syntax
highlighting.
4) I found that the manual is not up-to-date.
