Firefox 3 was causing problems for me with previous versions of ubuntu
(8.04 and 7.10) on this computer. The operating system crashed fairly
regularly on hyper-text links as i mentioned. I did contact firefox
about this problem.

Firefox did you see this happen on and what version fixed it?

mspagnut.: Michael was right stting this to "invalid" because we don't
know the real root cause or code change that resolved this problem, in
which case we would have set it to "fix released".

i had to upgrade to a later version of ubuntu in order to make this
issue disappear. also, i seem to remember flash being a problem on the
older platform for me. flash covering a popular website menu but this is
no longer an issue either.

i have been having problems with hyperlinking on many pages while using
firefox 3. changing back to firefox 2 seems to have avoided this issue
-- no crashes on my machine since. nvidia accelerated graphics driver is
not enabled on my system and the nvidia-kernel-common 2005-1028+1ubuntu8

Gutsy, 8.04 Hardy, etc.), and your version of firefox by including the
output of 'apt-cache policy firefox' run in a terminal.
