A new gThumb is out in intrepid-updates. Try that to rule out one bug and if
you still get the error I think this is a duplicate of this bug:

First of all sorry for the late reply..
for me gthunb still not work on intrepid 64-bit.
Now this is the error message that I always get:
An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not lock the device'):
Camera is already in use
what does it mean? i don't think is already in use..
My camera
Is this still an issue for you? A new release has gone into the
development archive since you reported this.
