Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: upgrade-system

Using a 57K phone modem, upgrade from 7.10 32-bit Kubuntu to 8.04 takes
about a week. During that period it is likely that the KPPP daemon will
die at some point. The installer offers no option to resume the install,
but insists on aborting instead. What is so time critical that it cannot
wait? Perhaps this is a feature request, not a bug report, but whatever
it is called, this is a serious problem with the installation software
from my perspective. Phone modem users are not sub humans. Thanks for
your time.
