I'm confirming this bug and have have a way of reproducing it: increase
the system load.
To reproduce:
1. First make sure you have allot of load on your HD and the location bar is
visible in nautilus. You can introduce system load by reading allot of files
from disk, for example: cat * */*
thank you for your bug report, what ubuntu version do you use?

I don't think a screenshot will explain it better, but I'll have a go at
being clearer with my description.
Say I'm in /home/dan/Images/ and I click into the subfolder 'Wallpapers'.
The location bar obviously reads /home/dan/Images/Wallpapers and I can see my
wallpaper images.
If I let the
a screenshot would make clear what bar you are talking about, the bar at
the top of the screen describe the path using buttons,
example [directory] [subdirectory] is displayed when browsing
subdirectory, when you go up you get the [directory] button selected but
[subdirectory] still displayed,
also do you use double click to change the directory? there is some bugs
open about the bar being out of sync when doing that sometimes

The bug is common to using either the text location bar or the button
location bar - I was describing the problem with the standard URL
location bar. The display of a button for subfolder just exited is
expected behaviour, but the location is indicated by a depressed button,
which under normal
Let me see if I can be any more explicit.
URL Action New URL Folder whose contents is displayed
/a/ enter b /a/b/ /a/b/
Before thumbnails finish loading:
/a/b/up /a/b/ /a/
/a/b/up again/a//a/
Correct
Ok, the spacing didn't come out quite as I had hoped, but hopefully you
can decipher it as four columns: URL, Action, New URL, Folder whose
contents is displayed.
