1) can you please try with any of the following :
$openoffice -writer
or
$ ooffice -writer
or
$ ooffice -writer %U
or
$ sudo openoffice -writer
2) if #1 does not work:
can you rename the folder ".openoffice.org2" to something else and
reinstall OpenOffice again.
3) if #1 and #2 d
bliZZardz: No, my problem is not related to the "save" function. In
fact, I can't even try to save a document because my OpenOffice
applications don't start at least.

I get the same "javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!" but
openoffice opens just fine. I do have java-common, SunJava6 and openjdk
installed and am running Intrepid amd64 (not 8.04).
