Described problem is fixed in trunk, the second problem is fixed in an
approved merge so the commit to trunk is only a matter of time.

However I note that if I click pull whilst in the gtk branch, I get:

There has been quite some activity on bzr-gtk the last 2 weeks. Can you
try with the current revision (531) if the problem still persists?
