I ran an strace on thunderbird this time. It was far longer until it crashed (15 minutes or so), but it still caved eventually. It crashed whilst thunderbird was not being actively used. It was working perfectly fine up until that point (you can even see in the strace the arrival of the two auto

It appears my first post was too optimistic - the problem has not vanished. Here is a slightly different backtrace, but again, with the same end result. It appears that the program crashes after around 10 seconds no matter what I do. Writing MailMessage to file. Subject: [* SPAM 15.4 *]
