I am pretty much sure that issue is caused by the bug in OpenJDK that prevents
GlassFish from working on OpenJDK.
GlassFish V2 (both ur2 and ur1) is included in this NetBeans installer and it
does not work in that distribution as well.

I just tried and it passed. I need more details to investigate. I tried
with latest openjdk build as Matthias suggested and tested netbeans-6.1
-ml-javase-linux.sh. There is more installers (with different content)
so I need to know exactly which you used. You can also run installer
with --verbose
- please recheck with openjdk-6 6b11-2ubuntu2, as found in hardy-proposed
- is this a netbeans issue?

Ubuntu team is not responsible for installer provided by Netbeans website.
Please file bug in netbeans bugzilla.
Netbeans 6 is packaged in Ubuntu and available in universe repository. If you
have problem with that package, then lease update this bug accordingly.
