as the original reporter, I can confirm this is pretty much fixed in
intrepid.
Intrepid seemed to wisely pickup my atheros card and do all it's
networking magic.
(well actually alot of the dhcp networky cruft seems to be taken out of
the installation process also)

In 7.04 DVD beta I think that in text mode it's detected (can someone could
confirm it) but we don't have options like WPA encryption
So it affects another bugs: put the possibility of how connect to server
(dhcp+plain, dhcp+wep encryption, dhcp+wpa) in the installer?
