When using compiz as widow manager the drop-down selection list from the
gnome-drawer is hidden behind other windows on the desktop and cannot be
brought forward.
The problem does not occur when using Metacity as window manager.
Not sure whether this is a compiz or gnome bug - hopefully it can be re-
assigned if I've got it wrong.
Attached is a screenshot (the drawer in this example actually has 4
items on it).
