Public bug reported:

My system is an HP 530, dualbooting Windows Vista and Ubuntu 8.04
(8.04.1?), all recently installed.

This was installed in the following order:
1. Vista, creating the NTFS partition with the Vista installer, leaving 10 GB
of space on the hd.
2. Ubuntu, creating an ext3 and a swap partition of 9 GB and 1 GB with the live
CD installer (8.04.1? ISO was downloaded a few days ago)

The problem is a long delay, showing "Waiting for root file system..." (when
boot text is enabled).

The HD is a SATA drive, running in native mode (I believe).

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
