Public bug reported: As of 8.04 with the new samba file sharing front end 'nautilus-share' there is no way to configure basic samba settings such as the computers network name or workgroup.
There is also no way to get a list of all shared folders on your computer if you want to remove or change permissions on them. This used to be accessible from the "system/administration/shared folders" menu option. Now the removal of shared folders requires locating each folder in the file system and using the right click menu or properties dialog to amend sharing settings. I was not even able to use the "system-config-samba" package to manage shares as it seems to read /etc/samba/smb.conf for share definitions while 'nautilus-share' dumps them in /var/lib/samba/usershares in a different format altogether. There needs to be a simple way to centrally manage all shared folders and also change basic samba settings without editing smb.conf. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- No GUI for basic samba settings/list all shares/workgroup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/247970 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
