Yes, the fix in the parent bug is for the menu icon. The file is
xxx.desktop but it is for the menus. The fix has been made in the
intreprid release.

i want to do this comment, the think is that in ubuntu 8.04.1 i install
defferent software and they didnt place under aplication menu nor system
menu, i am not talking a launcher at desktop, but in menus!!

For me (using Ubuntu 8.04.1) APTonCD adds a menu icon to
"System->Administration" immediately on install. However, giSOMount
does not and the package file list does not include a ".desktop" file;
so I can confirm that. I'm not sure where you are getting "avant 4
antivirus" so I can not help with
