I have a similar problem. Setting the CapsLock option to Caps lock
toggles shift so all keys are affected (the shift cancels caps lock
option disappeared in gnome about a year ago), I get the desired effect
(shift does cancel caps lock), but the keyboard caps lock light no
longer functions.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

This is the default behavior. The Shift should not toggle the CAPS lock
LED light.

So the Caps Lock LED does not indicate that Caps Lock is active, but
rather that the Caps Lock key has been pressed an
