Use "glxinfo". Yes, fglrxinfo is for use with the proprietary, closed
source "fglrx" driver that breaks the ati, radeon and radeonhd driver.

I believe you just need to remove the xorg-driver-fglrx package as that
interferes with the radeon driver.
